The Flobots Will Be My Neighbors!

One of my favorite groups is the Flobots! We first heard them on the radio here in the Philippines. Me, Kuya, and Papa jumped around to their songs a lot. Today, i found out from their Twitter account that they are from Denver--that's where i'm moving soon! Maybe we'll be neighbors and I can jump and sing with them. Here are my two favorite songs. Turn it up loud!

Here is my twitter account, coz i know you want to add me. And here is the Flobots account, coz i know you want to check them out!

I dare you to not jump when you play Rise!

Jumping to the Flobots!
So much pain
We don't know how to be but angry
Feel infected like we've got gangrene
Please don't let anybody try to change me
....
The bass drumming is the anthem
We step to the heartbeats
Of our granddaughters and grandsons
And

Rise, together we rise
Together we rise, together we rise
Together we rise, together we rise
Together we rise, together we rise

I Don't Like Being a Lion--Birthday Part 2

The package from my dad finally got here about 2 weeks late for Halloween AND my birthday. It turns out that i'm glad that it came late, coz I didn't like my costume!

I thought that I wanted to be a lion coz we always pretend that we are lions and look for the lion hiding spots when we go on walks. But, it turns out that it isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

Luckily, i also got a little sock monkey that helped me through the traumatic experience. I'll get my dad for this someday.

My dad says that I look a lot like my mama in this photo. I don't see it.

My Birthday--Part 1

I have lots of photos from my birthday that I will share later. For now, i'm excited to show this video of me jumping very, very high! When i was 2, my dad asked me if i wanted to jump, but i was scared. For my 3rd birthday, i decided that it was time! I was still scared at first, but then i started to really love it. Now I ask to go every time that we are at the mall.

Bela Lugosi's Dead, But I'm Alive!

I have the best birthday in the world--Halloween! This year i'm going to be Lexa the Lion. This song is supposed to be a scary song from when my dad wasn't so old. I kind of like it coz we can make monster sounds and try to scare each other.

Before we took this photo, they told me that it was real soup. I was hungry!

The bats have left the bell tower
The victims have been bled
Red velvet lines the black box
Bela Lugosi's dead
Undead undead undead

A great combination of Bela Lugosi and Ziggy Stardust from Bauhaus.

Sweet Baby James

I got my first baby! My dad took these photos when i was showing the baby to him. I don't think that he knows anything about babies. I made him kiss the baby through the computer. He made me promise that i'd stick to pretend babies for at least 25 years. What's up with that?

The video is James Taylor singing a great song to hear before you sleep!

moving on musically

Today's discerning toddler can't limit themselves musically--there is just too much to explore. Here is my find for today. It's great for jumping!

New, big girl, me!

great headphones will help immensely with your listening pleasure.

girls can shred!

Girls can shred too! Here is a video from a girl in the Netherlands who plays along to great songs by pretty cool bands. Check out her YouTube channel to see how great she is. She has only been at it a couple of years and is already really awesome. I want to start jamming soon!

i'm not the average girl from your video

Not much point in being the average girl from your video.

even in the quietest moments

I wish i knew what i had to do.
Alexa, 2 weeks old.

And even though the stars are listening
And the ocean's deep, I just go to sleep
And then I create a silent movie
You become the star, is that what you are, dear?
Your whisper tells a secret
Your laughter brings me joy
And a wonder of feeling I'm Nature's own little boy
But still the tears keep falling
They're raining from the sky
Well there's a lot of me got to go under before I get high

i'd give you the news, but nothin's changed

I expect every photo that i see of Chris and Alexa to look like something that i'd find in my grandmother's photo album circa early 1970s. I imagine them stuck back in my childhood. What a thrill it is to see color photos of the kids!

There are computers, and (many) other things that make it obvious that it isn't 1970 in the Philippines. Still, I always had the feeling that i'd found the place that the early 70s went to retire after it left America. In a lot of ways, that feeling was enjoyable. If you are in a constant state of deja vu, it opens up all kinds of psychic wormholes that are quite fun.

As much fun as it was for me to spend 4 years back in a 70s-like-trip, it is time to get the kids into a time machine and into at least 2008. We can always wink at each other about what it was like to grow up back in the day.

I'm goin' so fast that I can't slow down
It's hard to get up when you're spinnin' round and round
I'd give you the news but nothin's changed
I'd sing you a song but they blew it away
All wrapped up in this stupid ass game

Let's Waste Time Chasing Cars

Alexa had just turned one when things were at the worst that it seemed that things could be. She would always try to stay up as long as she could. It was like you couldn't convince her that everything would still be there when she woke up. She was pretty intuitive about it, because i couldn't quite convince myself of it either.

We'd go for walks late at night, when, I was often told, babies weren't supposed to be out for walks. But it was the best time of the day for both of us. The world went away, the stars shone with possibilities, and my responsibility for Alexa seemed infinite, obvious, and perfect.

When we'd get back, I'd tell her stories of all the adventures that there would be waiting for all of us. Of course, she didn't understand any of it, except for a few words. So, if i dropped the word 'balloon' into the middle of a story, then the whole story became about balloons to Alexa. And any world that has balloons for kids in it can't be too bad of a place. Actually, it could be a very bad place, but that is a story for another day.

I'd tell the stories to try out the ideas in my own mind as well. It was becoming obvious that we were in the wrong place and that things would have to change. I'd play Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol over and over and sing and hum it until we both fell asleep. Now, two years later, when things are much better in many ways, I miss how perfect the space that we made in the middle of the storm was. I miss Alexa.

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I'm Almost Grown

I'm not a baby anymore, I'm a little girl now!

You can see that i've been practicing my superhero kicks. Papa won't let me be a junior superhero until i'm 4! That sucks. Here is my favorite really cool superhero video.

If I go crazy,
Then will you still call me superman?

Eyes Like Saucers

I'm going to have to fill in for Lex while she is trapped in Asia. I get anxious every time that i see my kids in the webcam because they are getting big so fast. I don't want to miss so much. When i saw this new photo today, I saw her as little for the first time in what seems like forever. It reminded me of the Eyes Like Saucers line from 'Big Sister's Clothes' by Elvis Costello.

baby, I'm a lost cause

Well, not really, i'm only two. I'm still not lost yet. But the song is very beautiful. I like listening to it when its bedtime.

This is me from a LONG, LONG time ago. Papa says that i was a baby worm before i turned into a baby lion. As usual, he's a little crazy.

getting from here to there

Sometimes, You just have to run towards the light. The first step is the biggest, or something like that.

And sometimes, if you want to go in the backyard at night, you have to be ready to kick the mu-mus. Right, Dad?

I'm gonna be SuperWoman

Wow, its been a long time! I decided that I'm gonna be SuperWoman. Watch out!

I'm Ready to Get a Job!

Today I went swimming with Kuya and Daddy. Before we could swim, daddy gave me the job of filling the pool with water. He said that since I was at least 10% efficient, that I was ready for the workforce! I don't know what any of that means, but now I can get more money for ice cream!

I'm a Dude, Dad!

I like talking now. I'm getting good at it. Of all the things that I can do by talking, I like telling other people what to do the best! Ever since i remember, everybody has been telling me what to do, but now it's my turn, and I have a lot to say about it! My dad teaches me all kinds of funny words. Me and Kuya are dudes. That is a funny word and I like it. "C'mon dude" is my favorite way to say it.

Last Sunday we went to the SM mall to play. We get to go on rides, jump in a big balloon, eat at McDo's, and get toys. I don't know why we don't go all of the time. Of all of the things there, i like jumping the best. In fact, jumping is my favorite thing to do anywhere. I jump on walks, on beds, on sofas, on Daddy, on steps, off of ledges, over bumps, and when i dance. See, you can jump almost anywhere.

here are some pictures of Baby (that's me!), the dude. Hey, if you want to see me closer, then click the picture and it will grow!

Ready for action at SM!

My new shades.

what's up dude?

Dudes dancing

mommy, daddy, and the dude

I'm a dude, dad!

Tweety in, Dora out

Just so you know, Tweety is now in my crew and Dora had to go. She wasn't fired; we just didn't renew her contract.

iggly, iggly, iggly--or--proof dad is a cartoon

Ok! Check out these two photos. In the first one, I'm saying "iggly, iggly, iggly, iggly." I don't know why I'm saying that, I just say it whenever I want to tickle someone or I want them to tickle me. Or wrestle me. Anyway, I was once again beating my dad at wrestling and my mom took a picture before I could stop her.

Since we already had the picture, I decided to make it into a cartoon so that we'd..well, be cartoons! But, Look! Me and the bears look like cartoons, but my dad just looks like himself with some black lines on him. Especially his big head! He looks the same because he IS a cartoon! This explains a lot of stuff around here.

I'm a Lion!

Wow! It has been a long time since I made a post. I have a lot of important things to do all day, so don't have so much time for playing on the computer like daddy.

Everything is really good. We swim every day. I get to go on many walks all day. Today we drove in a tricycle and picked up turtle from the doctor. I can almost talk in three languages. I like climbing, wrestling, and fighting.

Today, I was a lion and I climbed to the top of the mountain, so I could jump on daddy and bite him.

more pigs!

Now there are 2 ads about pregnant pigs, just because i asked why anyone wanting to know if their pig was pregnant would be reading about me!

Are you a pig?
Are you pregnant?
Not sure?
Then click one of these ads!

pig pregnancy

Sometimes, these funny ads show up on my blog. Today, there is one for a pig pregnancy checker. Why would people who wanted pig pregnancy checkers be reading about me?

i got busted!

I got the sugar jar down from the shelf, found a little scoop, and was hiding in my room, eating sugar like winnie the pooh eats honey! Life was good.

Then my dad found me and ruined everything. That guy is no fun. I feel pretty awake, I'll just make mommy play with me all night.

sunday in the park

Sorry that it has been so long since i wrote anything--dad's getting lazy and fuzzy again. Today we went to a park. It was in a new neighborhood that we explored while we were walking. Then i came home and ate and slept. Life is great!
